Are you a Wizard or a Muggle?

Muggles are looked down upon in many instances during the Harry Potter series. If you look into the books you would find that it is used to define wizards born out of non-wizard parents. You would also come to know that their muggle parents don’t in any way influence their wizardry capabilities. If you are doubtful of that then you could look upon Hermione Granger and Lily Evans who were the greatest wizards of their age.

The logic behind a wizard born out of non-wizard parents is that a squib marries a muggle and as a result they lose their wizardry capabilities. Their wizardry resurfaces again after a few generations.

When such muggle-born wizard reaches their adolescence they are informed in the person of their child’s special powers. They are also informed about their admission to Hogwarts. It also gives details about the concealed magical society. They are also given guidelines on the essentials needed before they take their admission. It is one of a kind experience for the family I suppose.

Muggle wizards are often shamed due to their background purely due to racism. Many pure-bloods also call them Mud-blood which is very derogatory in my opinion. the pure-bloods often think that they are not capable of magic. Also, those purebloods who think that being a muggle-born don’t undermine your wizardry are called blood traitors. Salazar Slytherin one of the co-founders of Hogwarts advised of only admitting pure-bloods. But the other founders held the opposite view and often considered muggle-borns to be exceptional and hence all wizards were accepted.

But Slytherin was angry due to this decision and as a result he left the school. But he left something before leaving which was unexpected to many. He created the chamber of secrets on which the Harry Potter movie with same name deals with. So if loved it then feel free to take the quiz and find for yourself whether you are a wizard or a muggle. Tom Riddle, later known as Lord Voldemort, took this prejudice to an even greater extreme with his followers, the Death Eaters, despite the fact that he himself was a half-blood.
